I often wish my memory were stronger, as I tend to be out of sight, out of mind, frequently forgetting details of my past. This challenge is compounded by my diagnoses of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, mild cognitive impairment, and ADHD, all of which contribute significantly to my memory loss. Yet, it’s fascinating that I can recall the lyrics to TRU’s 1997 song ‘I Always Feel Like’ featuring Mia X almost word for word.
I always feel like somebody’s watchin’ me
I’m paranoid I can’t sleep, I’m in the dope game
I think these hoes and these n*ggas out to get me mane
I often find myself wishing I could better remember the moments of my past. Without a significant nudge from someone who was there, recalling events feels like trying to piece together fragments of a story. Despite this, I am—and always have been—a bold, pink starburst kind of person: spontaneous, vibrant, and full of surprises. I speak freely, with no filter, and even I don’t always know what’s going to come out next. This fearless approach has brought me countless amazing experiences over the years, moments of joy, laughter, and connection that I desperately wish I could remember in detail.
Today is my BIRTHDAY, and I have one special request that would be the perfect gift to make my day. Has there been a moment during our time together that stands out? Maybe something I said or did that made you laugh or left an impression? If so, could you share it in the comments and help jog my memory? Your stories mean the world to me, and they would be a wonderful way to relive those precious experiences.

Oh gosh. So many fond memories. Let me think of something that is appropriate to share publicly.
Do I start with the time you split your pants in high school while trying to run away from folks fighting? Didn’t your watch break your fall? Poor watch. 🤣
Should I include the fond memories of your parents allowing a group of teenagers to take over their home? Those cookies used to be delicious btw.
Wait! Maybe I should bring up that laugh?! Especially when I tell you something unexpected like stop letting that man suck up your momma’s air?!
Ouuuu uuuu! What about the night the Saints won the Super Bowl? 🤐
Or our impromptu drive from Dallas to New Orleans without a plan or hotel reservations during Essence 2016? Hey Keisha!
Or the karaoke nights?! You’ve always had great neighbors.
Oh wait!!! The night you got amnesia in Shark Bar?! That’s it. I’m going to stop right here because this one takes the cake.
Just like the number of times we jumped on the highway to do a quick turnaround trip home, we share too many to fond memories to count so I think I’ll end by telling you how brave I think you are to pack up your life and move home to start over. Congratulations on your recent success. I’m so proud of you, Kitt DeLucca. 🐿️

Yes. Highschool. Eleventh grade, I think. My smiley face watch fell off and I had the nerve to go back to get it while it there was a possible shooting or a fight.
Hmm. Cookies.
When I laugh that laugh I believe the word is guffaw. lol
Dudes were wanted to sofa sit and suck up my momma’s air. lol
Ohhh the night the Saints won the Super Bowl. My lips are sealed.
The drive from New Orleans back to my mom’s house after Essence 2016 and y’all kept waking me up!!! lol
19 years and I surprisingly never had any noise complaints. Excellent neighbors for sure.
“oh, you have amnesia?” lol
Wow, you took it all the way back with the memories. We’ve truly made so many memories that have shaped who I am – and you are woven into so many of the best ones. Thank you for seeing me, cheering me on, and reminding me of my own strength. This new chapter has been a mix of scary and sacred, and hearing those words from you mean everything. I love you big. Let’s make some new memories soon.

Dani, that’s it! The fact that you’ve always allowed me to call you Dani! You’re like my little sister and being with you and your family for so many years when Nicole and I ran the streets was priceless! Happiest birthday to you and I wish you many more! Love you, Dani!
